Dadipark: finished work

De deadline is dichter en dichter aan het komen. Maar ik heb nog steeds het gevoel dat het allemaal in orde komt. Maar dat wil ook zeggen dat ik extra hard moet werken. Dit zijn de dingen die ik wel al af heb. Geniet ervan. Het enige dat nu nog gemaakt moet worden is mijn plattegrond en mijn inkomticket.

The deadline is coming closer and closer. But I still have the feeling that everything will be finished in time but that also means i have to work really really hard. These are the things that i already have. Enjoy. The only thing i now have to make is my map and the ticket.

Storyboard: Bladerunner

Dus hier zijn een hoop van mijn storyboard schetsen. Ik moest 44 shots uit de film tekenen. Dit zijn er alleen nog maar 14. Gewoon zodat je min of meer een idee krijgt. Sommige tekeningen zijn bijvoorbeeld maar 2 seconden in de film. Ze staan trouwens niet in volgorde hier.

So, here are a bunch of my storyboard sketches. I had to make about 44 shots. these are only 14 of them.  Just so you would get an idea what that all is. Some drawings are only 2 seconds in the movie. These aren't  in a certain order, just mixed up, so don't try to understand the story :p

Alfabet/Alphabet

Plots was de deadline met een week vervroegd voor ons alfabet. Niemand was daar blij mee. Maar we moesten wel. Gelukkig heb ik er eentje dat rap in elkaar steekt. Toch nadat ik al mijn papiertjes had ingescand. Daarna wat het gewoon een kwestie van op de computer wat puzzelen. En dit is het vrolijke resultaat geworden van mijn lettertype dat ik Clownesk noem.

Suddenly the deadline is a week earlier then told. Nobody was happy with that. But we had to. Thank God that i had a typeface that was quick to make. But only after i scanned the little pieces of paper, Then it was only a matter of puzzling on the computer. And this is the happy result that i call Clownesk.

Dadipark

Dit is een opdracht die we al even hebben maar wat heeft stilgelegen bij iedereen door andere dingen. Maar nu is het dringend tijd om alles voor 1 februari af te krijgen. We moeten een pretpark ontwerpen. Dat wil zeggen, een logo, een mannetje als mascotte, toegangsticket, poster en een kaart. Heel veel werk dus. Natuurlijk zijn er verschillende dingen beslist door de leerkrachten, zo moet de mascotte bijvoorbeeld een konijn zijn omdat het in het oude Dadipark ook zo was. 

this is an schoolassignment that we already have for a long time, but it was a bit quiet around it because of other stuff. But now is the time, more then ever to finish it. On the first of february i have a jury. 

We need to design an amusmentpark. This means, making a logo, a mascotte, a ticket, a poster and a map for the park. A lot of work!! Offcourse there are several things decided for us by the teachers. Like, the mascotte needs to be a rabbit like in the old Dadipark.

En dit is mijn park tot nu toe. Ik heb een zoo. wat attracties, een speeltuin. En het allerleukste, een circus met leercentrum en een camping.

Storyboard: Bladerunner

De laatste opdracht die af moet zijn voor 1 februari is een stuk van een storyboard van Bladerunner. Elke klasgenoot heeft zijn eigen stuk en samen komen we ergens halverwege de film. Ik krijg het stuk met de enigste naakte vrouw in :D

the last assignment that needs to be finished before the first of february is a piece of the Bladerunner storyboard. Everyone in my class has his own piece. And all of us togheter we get to half of the movie. And i need to draw the only part in the movie with a naked lady :D

BoekieBoekie startaward

Hier is dan het uiteindelijke resultaat voor de Boekieboekiewedstrijd. Ik ben niet echt tevreden met dit eindresultaat. Het is nogal slordig en overhaast gemaakt. Maar het kan ook niet echt anders met die bergen werk en zo weinig tijd. volgende keer beter zeg ik dan maar. 1 februari worden de 25 geselecteerde bekend gemaakt. Hoewel ik niet verwacht dat ik daar bij zal zijn. Toch, heel stiekem hoop ik deze eerste ronde te overleven... 

here is the final result of the boekieboekie competition. I am not very pleased with the result. It is kind of sloppy and rushed. But that isn't that strange because i have so much work and so little time. Next time i will do better!. The first of february the 25 nominated persons will be announced. I know i won't be with them, but secretly i really hope i just survive that first round...

Work in progress

Het jaar 2012 verandert niets aan mijn werkzin. Op het moment ben ik met 2 projecten bezig. Eén daarvan is een wedstrijd voor beginnende illustrators en de andere is een muurschildering. Andere dingen liggen op het moment wat stil omwille van de deadlines van deze twee projecten. Na 8 januari is het namelijk volop schoolwerk (onderandere 1 examen) Dus voorlopig nog steeds werk  in uitvoering en geen eindreslutaten.

The year 2012 doesn't change anything in my working spirit. On the moment i am doing 2 projects. One is a competion for beginning illustrators and the other is a wallpainting. Other projects that i have are not getting done on the moment just because of those deadlines. After the 8th of January i will work a lot for school (including 1 exam) So, for now there are only works in progress and no end results.

Als iemand nog tips voor mij heeft, laat het me maar weten. De uitvoering gaat trouwens op de computer met Painter gebeuren. De zwarte lijn zal dan ook verdwijnen. 

If someone has some tips for me, just let me know. I am going to finish it on the computer with Painter. And the black line will disappear. 

En dan een eerste foto van de muurschildering waar ik aan bezig ben. je kon hier al de eerste schets op papier zien. Dit is al het eerste resultaat van een uurtje of 3 schilderen . Ik ben zeer nieuwsgierig over het eindresultaat.

And then here is a first picture of the wallpainting. You could see the sketches here. But this is the result of about 3 houres painting. I am very excited about the end result.

Work in progress

Het zijn drukke dagen. Niet omdat er nu van feestdag naar feestdag wordt geleefd, wel omdat ik massa's werk  heb. Ik werk steeds van 12 tot 12. (Ik ben echt geen ochtendmens in die zaken) En stilletjes aan krijg ik resultaten op papier. Ik heb zoveel werk, gewoon omdat ik het me zelf heb gezocht. Hier een wedstrijdje meedoen, daar een wedstrijdje meedoen en dat allemaal naast mijn gewone schoolwerk dat eind januari voor een jury moet liggen. Maar de deadlines van die wedstrijden zijn juist iets vroeger. En daarom kruipt dat werk altijd voor. Zo is er een online wedstrijd op de site ontwerpen-voor-geld.nl waar ik aan meedoe. En de opdracht is om een serie schattige diertjes/poppetjes te maken voor op kinderkleren. En daar heeft al wat werk in gestoken. Maar alleen omdat ik het enorm graag doe en ook enorm graag wil winnen. Maar daar ga ik niet op hopen.

These are busy days. Not because everyone is living from holiday to holiday but because i have lots and lots of work. I work from 12AM to 12PM (i'm really not a morning person in these things) And slowly there are some results on my paper. I have so much work because i searched for it myself. Here a competition, there a competition. And all of those next to my normal schoolwork. In the end of January i have a jury from my schoolwork. But! the deadlines from those competions are more early so they are always first. I am doing one competition from the website ontwerpen-voor-geld.nl i need to make a series of cute figures. and already put in a lot of work in this competition. Only because i really like doing it but also because i really want to win. But i am not going to stare me blind on that fact.

then i made these. But the shape of the figures wasn't really their thing 

En uiteindelijk was er deze reeks. Waar ik het ook bij ga laten. ze vielen zeker in de smaak, de kat en kip iets minder maar de rest kreeg vijf sterren en geen opmerking. Vooral de krokodil was hun favoriet (de mijne ook) De deadline is 7 januari, het gaat spannend zijn tot dan.
And eventualy i made these. And these are the final ones. But they where good for them. De chicken and cat a little les but the rest got 5 stars and no negative comment. The Crocodile was their favorite (mine too) The deadline is on the 7th of january.

Iets anders waar ik aan bezig ben is een muurschildering voor op de kamer van mijn metekindje. 2 januari ga ik daar namelijk op de muren schilderen.
Something else i am working on is a wallpainting for in the room of my godchild. On the second of January i will go and paint it.

 En dit is het ontwerp. Een vrolijke beestenboel. Geinspireerd op het kaartje van de babyborrel.

De figuurtjes hierboven worden op hout uitgesneden en op de muur geplakt. De rest zal geschilderd worden. 

And this is the design. a happy bunch of animals. It is inspired on a card i made before. 

The animals above will be cut out of wood and pasted on the wall. the rest will be painted.

Het volgende waar ik mee bezig ben is een wedstrijd van Boekie Boekie. Een nederlands kindermagazine. Ze hebben elke jaar een startaward. Een wedstrijd voor beginnende illustrators en studenten. Je moet er wel inschrijvingsgeld voor betalen. Maar als je wint, dan wordt je gepubliceerd en krijg je de prijzenpot van 500 euro.

The next thing that i am doing is the competition of Boekie Boekie, a dutch magazine for children. They have a startaward every year, a competiton for starting illustrators and students. You need to pay some money to participate. But if you win, you will be published and you will get the pricemoney of 500 euros. 

Ik heb de tekst "Komt dat zien" gekozen om mee te werken. maar ik ben nog steeds in de schetsfase.

Soundtrack of a movie

Voor een schoolopdracht moesten we een cover maken van een soundtrack. De film mochten we zelf kiezen en ik koos voor Lady in the water. 

For a schoolassignment we needed to make a record cover from a soundtrack that we could choose ourself. I choose lady in the water. 

 

 Ik heb lang getwijfeld tussen twee verschillende voorkanten. De bravere geschilderde versie of de gewaagdere collage. Ik heb wat rond gevraagd en er waren voor en tegenstanders voor beide. Uiteindelijk heb ik gekozen voor de geschilderde omdat er makkelijker een achterkant voor te vinden was.


I doubted a long time on two diffrent covers. The nice and gentle painted version or the daring collage. I asked around and the opinions were divided. Eventually i choose for the painted version because it was more easy to make a backside for it.
